Hi, I’m Rachel and welcome to my blog, What Rachel Did!
I’m a 23 year old MLitt Creative Writing graduate from the University of Glasgow, and I also graduated last year with a first class degree in English Literature and History. Former creative writing editor of qmunicate magazine, aspiring novelist and arts journalist, and literary editor of the Scottish Writers’ Centre. Unashamed Downton Abbey and Jane Austen obsessive. Basically always fantasising about macaroni cheese.
What Rachel Did is primarily dedicated to three of my greatest loves: travelling, reading and writing. You can find travel guides and musings published every Tuesday and book reviews published every Friday. I’m a ridiculously voracious reader – although my favourite genres tend to be classics, literary historical fiction and (ahem) well-written love stories, you can find me reading everything and anything that piques my interest. As for travelling, so far I’ve only been to Europe but I’m ticking off new countries every year (five in 2017 alone!) and I love writing about everywhere I’ve been. I’m based in Glasgow and one of my resolutions for this year is to explore more of my beloved hometown, so watch this space.
As I’m ever so slowly working towards my goal of being a fully-fledged writer, I’ll also occasionally upload some arts commentary or theatre reviews. Also a big fan of museums, film, fashion and, rather inexplicably, turtles. Please give me a follow if you’re interested in travel and books, and check out my other journalistic and creative work on my qmunicate and writing pages. You can also follow me on Instagram; gradually working up to getting Twitter…
